PAST PRESIDENTS: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

 

1981       Jane Hurd is President of the Everyday Genius, Inc. an executive coaching and organizational development firm.

 

1982       Gail Larson is CEO, Providence Everett Medical Center and Northwest Washington Service Area, Providence Health System.

 

1983       Bobbie D. Searcy, the first African-American woman hospital administrator in the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, is retired—sort of. She is a substitute teacher for the Inglewood School District and also works in the Services Division of Century 21 Real Estate in Inglewood. 

 

1984       Gayle Bullock is Assistant Vice President, Merrill Lynch Healthcare and Biotech Investments Group, advising health care executives on individual and corporate portfolio management, retirement plans and financing.

 

1985       Rhoda Weiss has been president of Rhoda Weiss and Associates strategic planning, public relations and marketing consultancy with a national client base, for the past 20 years. She is the president-elect of the Public Relations Society of America for 2006 and completing a Ph.D. in leadership from Antioch University.

 

1986       Margaret (Maggie) D’Ambrosia is a principal and owner, with her husband Marc Goldberg, of Windward Vineyard in Paso Robles, California. The winery is dedicated exclusively to the production of pinot noir wine and each year since 1995 its vintages have sold out.

1987       Gail Margolis is Vice President for Government & Public Policy, Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

 

1988       Rita Zwern is Manager, State Programs, for Kaiser Permanente Health Plan. In that capacity she administers Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, and AIM, as well as coordinating Kaiser’s Child Health and STEPS subsidized coverage programs.

 

1989       Twila Maxson, Ph.D. is manager of grievances and appeals for Care First Health Plan.

 

1990       Karen Kennedy has relocated to the Dallas/Forth Worth area and is Chief Executive Officer for Impel Management Services and the Medical Clinic of North Texas.

 

1991       Deena Bailey Stein is Vice President, Business Development, for JR Associates, a reimbursement services firm founded in 1996 by another former WHA president, Judy Rosenbloom (1997).

 

1992       Sara (Sally) Martin, former Associate Administrator, City of Hope, and the first woman in southern California to become a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, passed away in 2004.

1994       Lorry Ruml is chair of Vistage International and founder and president of CrossRoads West in Seattle, where she is an executive coach, facilitator and leader of CEO peer groups.

 

1995       Margaret Farwell Smith is president of Farwell Associates, a governance, strategic and planning

1998       and business development consultancy primarily serving pharmaceutical companies, academic medical centers and physician groups.

 

1996       Karen Schlumpp retired in 2001 as Director of Corporate Compliance, Kaiser Permanente Health Plan. She just completed a master’s in liberal arts to further her current passion for finding creative expression, passion and life-balance in life-work and re-invention of self, and finding the spirit in living.

 

1997       Judy Rosenbloom is founder and president of JR Associates. As JR Associates’ business visionary and primary spokesperson, Judy has led the firm’s 10-year expansion from an ultrasound coding boutique to its current position as a full-service reimbursement solution provider.

 

1999       Amy Brotzman is Special Projects Manager for the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group.

 

2000       Sandra Goodenough works for United Healthcare as a Network Account Manager in the New England region, and lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

 

2001       Sandra Wolff is Director of Development and External Relations for the Exceptional Children’s Foundation, one of California’s oldest and largest nonprofit organizations serving people with developmental disabilities and acquired brain injuries.

 

2002       Joan Ford Hilton is Vice President for Strategic Initiatives for the Starlight Starbright Children’s Foundation serving seriously ill children and their families.

 

2003       Sherri Thompson is Senior Program Manager for Anteon Corporation in Annandale, Virginia., where she a heads a team of Federal contractors and subcontractors supporting a Federal Agency Director’s initiative to transform the mental health system in the United States.

 

2004       Judy Vaccaro is an attorney specializing in California HMO regulation and HIPAA compliance.  She is now Senior Managing Counsel for Anthem Blue Cross in Woodland Hills.

 

2005       Krisianna Bock is a Lead Planner at Kaiser Panorama City Medical Center.

 

2006       Sue Brilliant is a Project Manager III, Pharmacy Strategy & Operations forKP Pharmacy Strategy & Operations.

2007       Judy Vaccaro, Esq. is a Senior Managing Counsel for Anthem Blue Cross.
